OPI Gwen Stefani Mini Rock Starlets


It's NO DOUBT how much Gwen has influenced me growing up. She was the epitome of cool-chic punker with class not to mention her solo work is amazing!! With the OPI collaboration I knew her collection would be filled with bold and bright shades just like her style. I'm so thrilled that they came out with a mini set to try out some of the shades. Her collection really reflects her style.

OPI joins celebrity partner Gwen Stefani in announcing seven new limited edition nail lacquers for 2014, featuring standout color in breakthrough finishes. Highlights from the collection include a bold red lacquer that pays homage to Gwens signature lipstick, a new semi-matte satin finish in shades of gold and black, and a mirrored chrome paired with a special base coat. Gwen Stefani by OPI nail lacquers contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPIs exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.
The mini set is called Rock Starlet with are 4 mini polishes - "Hey Baby", "I Sing In Color", "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" and "4 In The Morning".

A stunning bright cream finish medium pink. It's not too bright or too deep, just a classic medium pink. I really loved the finish of this polish, it goes on super smooth.

I wasn't expecting a deep berry shade from Gwen since her style is more into bold reds. This is the only shade that was tricky to apply, it went on a bit sheer so it had to be layered a few times. With more coats it starts to look like a vampy burgundy.

My favorite from the batch! It's the most unique shade of shimmery gold considering the finish is matte. It's an unconventional finish since shimmery polishes look better with a glossy finish. The shade is soft and applies beautifully with a single coat.

You can't have a Gwen collection without a dark shade. This one has a deepened charcoal hue, not a straight black. I love the matte finish on this, it's so classy and applies easily with 2 coats.

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in 300 Peach Fuzz just reminds me of a perfect summer manicure with yellow thread-bars with hints of a light peachy orange. Fuzzy Coat in 400 Tight Knit is a true royal blue with white mixed in. 

 Formula of these fuzzy coats are pretty smooth to work with without getting overly clumpy on your polish. The texture evenly distributes onto the nail polish without finicking with it. The brush size is average, nothing special about it, while it applies the polish very evenly you can end up with empty spots on your manicure. The fuzzy texture gives a 3D effect which feels rough on the nails so I always top it off with Revlon's Colorstay Super Top Coat to give it a smooth and glossy finish. 

 I love how these can jazz up a manicure without looking overly glitzy like most glitters end up. These add a fun colorful effect to the nails

Application:
The applicator has a wide brush which I absolutely love. It makes application on both hands easy and quick. This also helps to apply the nail polish evenly and smoothly, I really like how the finish turned out on all of these polishes and since the applicator was wide, it made less of a mess since it gives you more control.
Rimmel Salon Pro | Kate Moss Collection 378 Posh Trash Swatch
378 Posh Trash is a medium metallic bronze. It applies a bit streaky but I learned to apply thinner layers to prevent it from happening. It applies opaque in 2 coats but you can get away with 1 coat.

703 Rock N Roll is a bright cherry red. It has a very gorgeous glossy finish when dried. It applies opaque in 2 coats.
Rimmel Salon Pro | Kate Moss Collection 311 Spring Yellow  Swatch
311 Spring Yellow is a subtle yellow. This was the sheerest of the bunch. It would work best with a white base. It took about 3-4 coats to get it opaque enough.

 These have been launched internationally in the UK and UAE but I'm unsure if these will be available in Pakistan anytime soon. I do hope they do soon since I really liked a few bright colors from the range!

[NAILS] Minty Blue Cruise


I’m back after a month long hiatus! It wasn’t exactly planned to take such a long time off but I’m sure my blogging sisters know how hectic life can be at times and adding blogging in the mix can be a tough challenge. But without further adieu I wanted to jump back into blogging and bring some great reviews and nail of the days. 
I hardly ever do nail of the days because I hate my cuticles, I try to clip any dead skin but my fingers never look tidy in photos. If you guys can suggest a good cuticle remover type of product I would love to hear your suggestions!


I’ve really been digging pale blues and greens lately so Color Studio’s Mint nail polish was right up my alley. I wanted a bit of pop so I added NX’s nail polish in Cruise on my ring finger and thumb. Both are gorgeous polishes, Mint is more of a pale blue-grey while Cruise is similar to a sky blue hue but a bit paler. I love these hues lately although I hardly ever wear blue nail polish.

OPI Outrageous Neons Swatches


OPI Outrageous Neons is a set of 4 mini polishes, a mini white base polish and a mini top coat. This set is great for those who love a bold manicure. The polishes are all very sheer on their own but applied over a white base gives these colors a vivid look. 
Ridiculously Yellow, Formidably Orange, Riotously Pink, Seriously Purple 
White Base, Top Coat
White Base is opaque in just a single coat. It’s by far the perfect formula for a white base polish, non streaky and easy to apply. 

Top Coat gives a nice shine to the nails but takes forever to dry. Even after 30 minutes my nails were still not completely dry.

Formidably Orange is a vibrant orange that is easy to apply. It shows up opaque with 2 coats on top of the white base.

Ridiculously Yellow is a neon yellow. This was opaque in 3 coats on top of the white base.

 Seriously Purple was the only difficult polish to work with. It's a straight purple which looks almost like a dark pink if you don't apply enough coats. I used about 4 or 5 coats and it still looks sheer and uneven.

Riotously Pink is a bright hot pink that shows up opaque in 2 coats with the white base.

 Overall I love the vibrancy of all of the shades with the white base. The base is a perfect opaque white that applies very easily without leaving streaks on your nails. Seriously Purple was the only disappointing polish since I love the shade of purple and I would've liked the shade to show up opaque. Without the white base it can work as a sheer polish which doesn't look bad at all, it'll just give a very toned down shade of purple. 

 For the rest of the colors, these all give a very matte texture without the top coat. Once the top coat is applied it gives a gorgeous glossy finish to the polish. I can't pick a favorite out of the bunch since I love the out there shades of yellow, orange and pink.

This duo is perfect for any red polish fanatic, these apply gorgeously without a top coat. Since red shades do tend to stain nails I recommend a good base coat with these polishes to prevent your nails from turning yellow.

The most opaque out of the 4, its a true blood red with the tiniest sparkles. It applies like a dream, very rich and creamy. You can get away with just one coat. I swatched it with 2 coats. Wouldn't this be perfect for a bridal manicure? Its the perfect red.

Excuse moi! 
I call this confetti polish!! My absolute favorite out of the bunch. Its a light pink jelly with tones of multicolored sparkles. I was thinking this would be the sheerest but it was opaque in 2 coats. I love how the glitter specks aren't spaced out, you get a tone of glitter in each swipe.

Designer... de better! 
This is a pale Gold with a hint of silver sparkles. This was the sheerest of the bunch, I applied about 4 coats for the swatch. It has a true metallic finish.

[REVIEW] OPI Nice Stems! Summer Collection-- Swatches


Spring is here and what better way to step into the bright sunny weather then with some colorful nails. With the weather changing so does my color palette. The OPI Nice Stems! Collection is right up my alley, with 4 pink polishes that will surely say spring is here.

The Collection was release for the Summer of 2011 and has now arrived in Pakistan. With the floral themed play on words that OPI are known for, these shades include a variety of finishes along with a sheer glitter polish that’s perfect for layering.
Play the Peonies, Come To Poppy,  Be A Dhal-ia Won’t You, I Lily Love You

Play the Peonies 
This shade is a soft creamy pink with a hint of shimmer. I don’t get why I have the hardest time getting light color polishes to not be streaky. To get an opaque coverage it took about 3 layers. This subtle shade is perfect for everyday wear.

Come To Poppy 
This shade is a corally pink that shows up more pink. This is one of those polishes that looks more pink sometimes and others more coral depending on the light. This doesn't have a glossy finish, its more of a semi-matte with the slightest shimmer. This is my favorite out of the collection, it’s the most opaque and it looks gorgeous paired up with I Lily Love You! It took 2 layers to get an opaque coverage but you can get away with just a single layer.

Be a Dhal-ia Won’t You?
This is a bright fushia pink shade with tons of sparkles, this is one hot polish! It had the same opacity as Play the Peonies, it’s a bit sheer and took about 4 layers to get an opaque coverage. I love the sparkles in this polish, it really has a wow factor!

I Lily Love You
This is a very sheer pink glitter/flaky polish that has loads of multicolored particles. I had to layer it about 2-3 times to get enough glitter on my nails. The glitter has a variety of shapes and sizes. I paired it up with a few shades just to see how it would look. It looks the best paired with Come To Poppy and I think with pink polishes it'll look really great. I figured the glitter would show up more with a black base but it really didn't look that appealing. I wore it without a top coat and the particles didn't come off which is great if you don't have a top coat in hand.

To Sum it up: 

This is a great variety of pink polishes, there is something for everyone. With these mini-polishes I would prefer if they were more opaque since you wouldn’t be using so much of the product  if you are able to purchase these individually. All of the polishes were easy to work with except Play the Peonies which was a bit streaky for me, it can be an application issue so if you have never had any difficulties with light-shade polishes then it will work for you. Come to Poppy and Be A Dhal-ia Won’t You are definitely perfect for bright polish lovers. I Lily Love You is great if you want a touch of glitter on your nails but you will have to layer it on which then makes the polish turn a bit gloopy.
